Transitional Housing

Lexington Rescue Mission recently opened transitional homes for men and women who are homeless or in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions.

In 2011, we provided 1,654 nights of lodging for men in our transitional homes.

The transitional homes are geared toward men and women who have achieved at least 30 days of sobriety, who have participated in a recovery program and need a safe place where they can practice those principles, be held accountable and learn how to live a sober, healthy life.

Residents are encouraged to grow in their walk with the Lord through attending church and Christ-centered recovery meetings each week. Men and women living in the homes are required to find employment, with which the Mission offers assistance.

“We wanted to be able to provide more holistic care to people struggling with drug and alcohol addictions,” said Jim Connell, Executive Director. “We have seen such a need for this kind of supportive living.”

We are also partnering with Lighthouse Ministries, which offers a long-term residential program for men who have life-controlling problems. We closed our Life Renewal Program for men and are referring men in need of a long-term program to the Nehemiah House, which is operated by Lighthouse Ministries. Through this partnership, we are expanding the continuum of care for men struggling with addictions and providing more options for people in need of transitional housing.
