Volunteer

Lexington Rescue Mission is able to provide services to those who are in need because people like you are willing to give a donation of time. We have volunteers plugged in and serving in many different ways.

A variety of skills are needed to help the mission run smoothly and volunteers are needed in the following areas:

  • Food serves to serve lunch to the hungry on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays.
  • Mentors for men in our Life Renewal Program.
  • Teachers to lead life-skills classes.
  • Supervisors for our computer lab.
  • General cleaning, maintenance or repairs.
  • People willing to drive residents to various appointments.
  • People to sort donations and stock shelves at the thrift store.
  • Medical professionals to volunteer in our health center.
  • Professional counselors to provide individual and/or family counseling.
  • Attorneys to provide pro-bono legal assistance to clients.
  • Special event volunteers for our banquet, walk-a-thon and Christmas Block Party.

The best way to get plugged in is by coming in to the mission for an informal tour. We would love to meet you, show you around and find the best way for you to get involved. We currently have tours set up at the following times:

Thursday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, June 6 at noon

Monday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, June 25 at noon

Tours are held at The Lexington Rescue Mission Outreach Center at 444 Glen Arvin Avenue (off of Georgetown Road between New Circle and Newtown Pike). They last one hour, and lunch is provided at noon-time tours.  You can reserve your spot on a tour by calling the mission at (859) 381-9600 or e-mailing Laura Connell .
